Verbal / Non-Verbal Communication

This mini lecture reviews how verbal and nonverbal communication affects the perception of videoconferencing visits, especially when compared to face to face services. While the continued improvement of videoconferencing technology addresses concerns such as signal delay, turn-taking and so-called collisions where people talked at the same time and interrupted the transitions, telemental health still presents challenges for building rapport and solid therapeutic alliance.
